Tail Lights | x6 | 3157 | amazon.com 1 amazon.com 2$ | Get the red ones. Cheaper ones are fine, unless you have tinted, then i would suggest getting the brighter ones. |
Third Brake Light | x4 | 194
Resistors | x6 | Mount to metal.
Hyper Blink Easy Fix | I just heard of this, it takes the place of tail light resistors. More $ but easier. Although if you plan on adding sequential, I’m guessing you couldn’t go this route. As the module to slow them down would take its place. |
LIGHT REPLACEMENTS
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Led Side Markers | ||
Third Brake Light | I have been running this for a bit and it traps water under the corners. Really weird.
Tail Lights | Check your local pick-a-part

Tint film | I’ve tried the film from Amazon and would not recommend it. It has a purplish hue and hexagon design. If I were to get more, It would be the luxe. Just an FYI, Vvivid vinyl across the board is junk. |
HALO FOG LIGHTS
PART | LINK | TIPS |
80mm Halo | ecstuning.com $$$ morimotohid.com $$$ amazon.com $$ | Ones from Amazon are great, not sure if it’s a wiring issue, but I had to replace them already. If you want a premium light, go with Morimoto. |
Fog Light | If you want a black housing, use a scuff pad and paint/primer (same as headlights).
Super Glue | Since the Amazon halos didn’t have any mounting holes, I put dabs of superglue around the entire edge. It works great and guarantees they won’t move. If you use the Morimoto halos, I recommend using fine wire. You might need to add holes to tie them down, or try the superglue tactic.
Wiring | I cut the halo wires and slipped them in the air hole that’s already in the housing.
Prebuilt -$245
| Another -$160 would not recommend amazon.com. |
PROJECTOR RETROFITS
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Headlights | Same as LMR and American Muscle. No matter what you get, always seal them, and put a nice coating on them.
H11 Led | 2.5in lens. | |
Projector | morimotohid.com micro d2s morimotohid.com mini h1 | I used the Amazon projector, I also listed some higher-end projectors that could work, although I have not used them, so I’m not 100% sure. If I were to guess. The mini h1 looks the most similar to the Amazon one, which worked. |
Paint | amazon.com paint amazon.com primer amazon.com matte clear amazon.com gloss clear | If you ever look at another retrofit, you’ll notice the paint bubbling in the front. To fix this issue, I used engine paint to stop that issue, and after a few years, there’s no sign of bubbling. |

COBRA STEERING WHEEL SETUP
PART | LINK / TIPS |
Sparco Steering Wheel | amazon.com (horn) I would recommend leather if you plan on using it daily and want a cleaner look. Alcántara is good, but will need gloves, and even then it seems to look worn fast. I’ve seen many garage queens with this wheel w/ Alcántara, and they always look worn. |
NRG Quick Release | amazon.com Thin quick release doesn’t work with adapter. If you’re worried about the distance from the turn signals, it’s not that far. |

Tips | I would highly suggest you do not get a race wheel if you don’t have a harness. The wheel blocks the odometer from your eyes on a new edge. I would stay away from suede. I’m working on reconnecting the cruise control buttons, I have an idea of how I want to do this and will provide an update later. |
COBRA SEAT SETUP
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Braum seat | amazon.com *unavailable
Bracket | Brackets skyrocketed for some reason, the ones that are in the cobra are this design but not this company.
Belts | amazon.com (4pt)

Back Seat Delete | lmr.com (Shrader) americanmuscle.com | I think I have the Shrader one, both are flimsy and not the best, if I were to do it again, I would make my own. |
Fire Extinguisher | amazon.com (mount) amazon.com (h3r) amazon.com (2 pack) | H3r is what’s known in the car world, but seems too overpriced. |
GT SEAT SETUP
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Brackets | Will need to be modified (refer to story) why? Idk, the dumbest design ever, but the only option atm.
Seats | Good quality for the budget. You do sit up high, knees are close to the steering wheel. But for the price, I can’t complain. I’m 5’7 160lbs, If you’re heavier I could see it wearing easier, and if you’re over 5’10, might be uncomfortable.
Paint | Worked great to cover up the work needed to fill the holes in, completely hidden.
Hole Filler | This worked great. Use painter’s tape to seal it from going through. After it hardened, I used a sander to make it all smooth. Hasn’t moved a hair in months.
Buckle | To make them work, I pounded them flat to work with the seats.

COBRA SHIFTER SETUP
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Short Throw | ||
Cobra Shifter Ball | ||
Shift Boot | We tried getting shift boot and e-brake covers from RedlineGoods, but when they arrived, we were confident they had sent the wrong ones—they had a horrible fit. When we contacted them, they insisted it was impossible, claiming we were wrong and refusing to admit they might have made an error. We sent photos, which they never acknowledged. Eventually, they gave us a refund but also charged a restocking fee, which is total bs. Afterward, I looked at other people’s boots from them, and the pictures showed the same awful fitment. It seems like it’s just a terrible design. This whole ordeal took about five weeks of back and forth, and their response times were terrible. Just get the ones from eBay—they’re easy to communicate with, and the boots had a perfect fitment. You’ll save both money and trouble.
Firewall Adjuster | lmr.com < | A must. |

Ball | ||
Boot | ebay.com carbon | The ring that holds the boot to the bezel will have to be made. I traced mine from an actual manual ring and made it from ABS. If you need one, let me know. I went with synthetic, cheaper, leather is much nicer. |
Line | Fishing line works great to hold the boot to the bezel.
Tape | amazon.com (flashing) amazon.com (3m) | I actually used some house flashing, incredibly strong and sticky stuff. 3M could work too. |

Budget Floor Mats | americanmuscle.com 2nd choice | Good quality, much better than expected, if you’re easy on them, they will last awhile. |
Floor Mat Retainer | amazon.com (something like this, but not this) | I pulled my retainer clips from a junk car. I cannot find a link to the exact ones I have. All I’ve found are ones that screw into the carpet, not clip. If you do go to the junkyard to find some, just expect to look through a lot. And bring a sharp utility knife. Get two, better for holding it in place. |
Cobra Snake Mats | Nice and super thick, but easy to get matted down. No harsh shoes, or shoes at all. I went with black, but they do make charcoal.
Carpet Tape | House flashing has got to be one of the stickiest tapes out there. Great for holding together your 20-year-old crumbling carpet.
Pedals | Junk, the brake pedal always looks horrible, I had to claim my order twice to find a decent one, and even now it’s all scratched up, try to find OEM.

Rear | Offset 20mm w/ ¼ spacer with Nitto nt555r2 305/35/18 discounttire.com |

Wheels | Aodhan ds09 hardmotion.com or Saleen chrome lmr.com stockwheelsolutions.com americanmuscle.com I currently have AM Saleens and need spacers to achieve proper fitment to the fender. I wouldn’t recommend them, as they leave very little thread exposed. From p+ictures, it seems LMR has the same issue, and I would guess OE is similar. |

SOUND DEADENING & UNDERCARRIAGE
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Interior Spray On | Came out great. Covered up the surface rust pretty well, looks good, but it’s hard to tell if it did any sound deadening.
Spray On Liner | amazon.com better amazon.com 8 pack amazon.com still good | The dupli-color covers more and has that rough finish I like. But I used the Rustoleum since it was cheaper. I used around 7 cans. I covered every square inch and went over some areas a few times. All depends on what you want to cover. |
Future Spray On Liner | For my next car, I’ll probably use a product like this. I’ve heard many good reviews. It doesn’t have “sound deadening” properties, but it’s probably similar to the other spray.
Sound Mat | Black is definitely the way to go, even though you never see it. Not a crazy difference, probably have to double it if you want it real quiet—and not have a loud exhaust. I did remove the foam in the back seat under the side panels, which was loose and making noise. 52 sqft did the entire inside and half the trunk, didn’t do doors.
Tips | Make sure everything is prepped and masked off, before spraying. The paint is heavy but it does get everywhere. Below I list all the prep supplies. |
MISC.
PART | LINK | TIPS |
Mach 1 Lip | American muscle is known for having a short lip, unless they changed it, which I don’t think they have, stick with LMR.
Cobra Lip | ||
Side Running Horse Emblem
Front Running Horse Emblem
Inner Fender | partsgeek.com action crash | I have only tried one brand and it was junk. I recommend going to the junkyard and picking up a v6 inner fender. Has more clearance on the driver side. |
Hood Vents | lightningforceperformance.com amazon.com triangle (what I use) c2aero.com major modifications lmr.com triangle venomprototyping.com x etsy.com 3d printed | These are the ones I got. Word has gotten out that these require modification to the hood, but they do not, or very little—if any, it’s at most half a millimeter. It’s the ones by ‘Fore’ that don’t fit well. There are multiple sellers of the metal ones. The 3D-printed ones have noticeable print lines and would recommend sanding. They are a 3D scan of the triangle ones, so they are exactly the same. He’s said he will come out with different designs, but I would say unlikely. |
Race Cowl | instagram.com/kandkcarbonfiber this guy just started, also has a cowl, very small | These are usually out of stock. It took 6 months to get one after difficult communication. The piece fits very well and the weave is good, but it has been developing haze. My take on Carbon Driven: Most of the small parts don’t have the best weave, like medium quality in the carbon world, nowhere near supercar but not the cheap china stuff. Additionally, the seller has been very quiet in the Mustang community, and most of his stuff is out of stock. It makes me think he’s done making parts. |
Mirror Wobble | Go to the junkyard and get a driver mirror, the component that is causing the wobble is also in stock headlights.
Shorty Antenna | amazon.com 8in | I always thought the skinny wire looked better than the chunky one. Also, the chunky, stubby one sticks out past the base, which makes it stand out and look worse. |
Hood Latch/Pins | I wouldn’t go cheap on these.
Car Cover | Bronze shield, I’ve seen a lot and most of them are junk, this one is pretty nice, had it for a few years, but I don’t use it daily.
No Drill License Plate | ||
License Plate Cover | amazon.com tinted amazon.com (rubber frame)
Cobra Bumper | ebay.com color-matched | I’ve heard good things about the color-matched Cobra bumper. I’ve seen one, and in certain sunlight, you could tell it was slightly off, probably due to the metallic. You’d likely get the same result if you had it painted elsewhere, so it’s up to you. I’ve gotten two of the non-painted ones before; they needed some help with fitment, but they turned out okay. I actually sent the seller a message, and both times they refunded me. I’m not sure if this is the same seller. |
No hole license plate | Must need if your state requires a license plate

Mufflers | Americanmuscle.com slp lm1 | Swapped from stingers, which were the lowest hanging part of the exhaust and often scrapped. SLP are small and have a lot more ground clearance. Very loud, basically empty cans. On the 2v it was much louder, the pro chamber quieted it down. |

Tailpipes | Tail pipes are weird, no one sells them alone. I got lucky and found some. You can try to contact the manufacturer and see if they will separate. I always see them on Facebook.

PART | LINK | TIPS |
Tape | amazon.com 1 amazon.com 2 lowes.com 1 lowes.com 2 | The loom I use, I tape the wires and then put the loom overtop, for extra precaution. I think I used around 6, 8 with the fenders. To be safe I would buy a pack of 10. I’ve never had a problem with heat. |
Cloth Tape | Great tape if you want that look. Easier to apply.
Loom | I use the loom from Amazon. I think the more professional look is taping the entire harness with the cloth tape.
Wire | amazon.com tinned 22awg amazon.com ground wire 16awg
| -I took a Chuck of the harness from a car at the junkyard, cheapest, and you get the correct wire. If you’re crazy enough, you could match the colors. -At most, I extended a part of the harness by 6-8in. So you don’t need that much wire. -16 gauge for ground wires and 22 gauge for the harness wires. |
Connectors | amazon.com kit | 26-22 awg – Good size for just about all the wires 22-16 awg for a few |
Heat Shrink | amazon.com kit | Good to have |
Crimper | ||
Seam Ripper | Makes it easier to take the first layer of tape off, although if you plan on moving around the position of the wires, you will need to use a razor blade |
-I have yet to completely strip and redo an entire harness. I've only cut and shorten/extended the harness. I work in sections at a time, usually the harness near and under the fenders first, then tackle the injectors at the end. This also helps if you daily the car, like me.
-If you daily the car, don't move the fuse box into the fender. I would even suggest to not move the fuse box in the fender even if you don't daily the car, all it takes is one blow, and you're on the side of the road with it jacked up and wheel off. (from experience… Twice) try to move it to a location that's easily accessible, like the glove box, or under the rear seat, or in the trunk. I’ve seen it done before, I will eventually do this one day.

-For the finish, I would go with stainless steel, black looks cool but they always rust. -For grade, I usually go with the basic and cheapest stainless steel, I’ve had good luck, I wipe my engine bay down constantly so grim is never around any of the hardware. | -I would never buy from these places, the upcharge is crazy, a total scam. |
HARDWARE LIST
I would recommend stainless and something with a hex head—countersunk, socket head, or round head. I wouldn't just go with socket head for everything; it can be a little much. Some things look better with a low profile, so that's when I use a round head. Bolts with washers can be flanged; it's up to you. I suggest double-checking. If you see an error or have more sizes I don't have, send a message.

Rubber chem gloves | Rip resistant amazon.com Standard amazon.com harborfreight.com quality is identical | The rip resistant ones, I went through very quickly. The sweat from my hands destroys these gloves. Maybe they were old, maybe I have toxic sweat, idk. The standard ones I like, for me these last longer, and you get a lot more for cheaper. Many times I reuse, which I couldn’t with the rip resistant ones from breaking too fast from the sweat. |
Belt sander | amazon.com amazon.com (paper) | Best and most useful tool of all time* |
Rotary Tool | I went with Dremel, I use it a lot and didn’t want to bother with it breaking.
Ginder | Love cordless. | |

Mask Filter | amazon.com (not for rust but good for paint) pair with amazon.com + amazon.com to last longer amazon.com (good for all) Amazon.com (good for paint) amazon.com (not for painting) dust | Always double-check the mask’s filtration capabilities. |
Degreaser | la totally awesome-feels it has that extra bite, wouldn’t use on surfaces you’re worried about damaging. Check dollar stores for better prices. Super clean-what I usually have, I use on engine bays etc. Purple power-similar, I get whichever is cheaper.
Wire Brushes Wire Wheels Sand Paper Abrasive Pads | Go to your local Harbor Freight amazon.com Scotch bright drill attachment.

DETAIL COMPANY LIST
-In the world of car cleaning chemicals, there are way too many companies. I always choose companies that are known and have realized more $ doesn’t mean better; everything is borderline the same. The biggest factor is you. Walmart/Amazon are still the cheapest.
-Every day, new products are sold, mostly private label with nothing special. You know it's saturated when every car giveaway company has their own line.
-There aren’t a ton of chemical manufacturers out there, so unless it’s one of the big guys with patents, etc., most of them come from the same place. Maybe a little tweak here and there, all pull from the same pond.
-I tried to organize them from known to least known, not best to worst. There are some larger companies in the unknown, but I have personally never heard of them.
-Dead are shops that have little products or stopped promoting, updating.
-Private are shops I believe are doing private labeling or have zero input, just taking a pre-made product and sticking a label on it. Easy tells are they use a generic bottle, are recently new but have a huge lineup, only selling on one site, and marketing. I try to give credit to those that might appear to have some insight and effort into the process.
